This is a voluntary programme and attracts one year protection of benefits.
Qualifying benefit
Qualifying benefit means any one of the following:-
- Disability Living Allowance;
- Incapacity Benefit (IB);
- Incapacity Benefit Youth;
- Severe Disablement Allowance;
- National insurance credits on grounds of incapacity (which may be awarded on their own or in addition to payments of income-related benefits - Income Support (IS), Housing Benefit (HB), Council Tax Benefit (CTB) or War Pensions);
- Income Support with disability premiums;
- Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit with a disability premium provided the premium is paid in respect of the recipient himself / herself and provided he / she is not in receipt of Jobseeker's Allowance, is not in paid work, or is in paid work of fewer than 16 hours per week;
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) where this includes an Unemployability Supplement;
- War Pension where this includes an Unemployability Supplement;
- Income Support pending the result of an appeal against disallowance from Incapacity Benefit;
- Equivalent benefits to Incapacity Benefit being imported in Great Britain under European Community Regulations on the co-ordination of Social Security and the terms of the European Economic Area Agreement.
